Indian Veterinary Research Institute IVRI is located at Izatnagar, Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh state. It is India's premier advanced research facility in the field of veterinary medicine and allied branches. It is under the control of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi.

Division of Animal Nutrition

Animal Nutrition Division is one of the oldest Seat of systematic research in the field of animal nutrition in India. It was established in 1921

The work conducted at the Division has been instrumental in contributing both in fundamental and applied research.

The researcher benefited the farmers through lab to land programme.

Post-graduate education and transfer of technologies in the area of animal development are the basic responsibilities.

This Division imparts advanced training to the teachers and scientists of SAUs and Research Institutes, respectively under human resource development programmes.

Major Activities-

Post graduate teaching for M.V.Sc and Ph.D in Animal Nutrition

National Diploma in Fodder and Feed Technology

Advanced training in frontier areas of animal nutrition for teachers and researchers of national agriculture research system under CAFT.

Field outreach activities in the area of animal nutrition and feed resource development.

Research directed towards-

Nutrition for health and wellbeing of livestock and pets

Expending feed resources and improving nutrient extraction from biomass

Strategic supplementation of macro and micro-nutrients for improving livestock production

Feeding practices for reducing environmental pollution and optimizing animal productivity

Honours & Awards-

Faculties of the division have been conferred with THREE national awards:

Panjabrao Deshmukh Best Woman Scientist Award
Hari Om Ashram Trust Award

Students’ research work has been recognized with JAWAHARLAL NEHRU AWARD six times.

Scientists have been awarded different national awards and Fellowships (NAAS/FANA) for their excellent scientific contributions.

Scientists are being invited as members of the expert panels of ICAR, DBT and IAEA.

Division has been conferred the BEST MAINTAINED DIVISION AWARD at the institute level TWICE.

Institute’s best teacher award has been given thrice to the divisional faculty members.
