Prof. G. Nageswara Rao assumed the office of the Vice-Chancellor on 17th July 2016. Prof. Rao joined as faculty member in 1989 in the Department of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry and became Professor in 2006 and continuing as professor till date.

The Andhra University was ranked 801-1000 in the world by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings of 2018 and 251-300 in Asia.

The QS World University Rankings of 2018 ranked it 301-350 in Asia.
