When the Department of English was established in Andhra University? I have completed BA in English and now want to do M.A. English from Department of English Andhra University so provide me its syllabus so that I compare this from the syllabus of other University?

The Department of English, one of the oldest in the Andhra University, was carved out of the Department of Modern European Languages, offered by the University in 1945.

What began as the course in general English has grown into a post-graduate course, offering ten papers in two years of study with five electives in emerging areas.

Courses Offered

Post-graduate course of four semesters in two years with British Literature in the first two semesters and Literatures in English in the third and fourth semesters with a number of electives in emerging areas of study

Through the distance mode Diploma course in Functional English, Bridge Course for entrants into M.A., English, and a remedial Course in English for the campus students Two year Post-graduate course through the Distance Mode is also offered.

The Department offers full time M. Phil and Ph D courses in various areas.
