The Department of Hematology , All India Institute Of Medical Science was established in the year 1989.

The Department has published several books such as Thalassemia Care and control in the New Millenium Perspectives in Thalassemia Hematopathology Atlas , Recent Advances in Hematology I and IIand Manual of Hematopathology.

Courses Offered:

DM Training

(A) DM Hematopathology :

• Eligibility: MD in Pathology

• Duration: 3 years

(B) DM Clinical pathology

• Duration: 3 years

• Eligibility: MD in Pediatrics and Medicine

Ph.D COURSE

The Department has a PhD Hematology programme.

Topics:

They are working on molecular genetics of Hemophilia, WD, Glanzmann’s Thrombosthenia, Stroke and Leukemia.

Facilities :

The department of hematology has laboratory facilities.

The laboratories, which perform extensive state of the art investigations for bleeding disorders, hemoglobinopathes , leukemias and anemias.

All patients are managed on predetermined protocols after detailed investigations.
