After completing your degree course in Mechanical engineering, you can
appear in Indian engineering services in order to join Indian Railway
service.

Indian engineering services exam is conducted every year usually in the month of May or June by the Union Public service Commission to recruit engineers into the Indian goverments top engineering and
managerial services.

Applicants are recruited for four categories which
are as follows :-

Mechanical engineering,
Civil engineering.
Electrical engineering,
Electronics and communication engineering

The selected candidates recruited for
Group A & Group B Services/Posts.

Indian Railway Stores Service (Mechanical Engineering Posts).

Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers.(IRSME)

Central Water Engineering Gr. 'A' ServiceService Mechanical Engineering Posts).

Indian Ordnance Factories Service (Engineering Branch) (Mechanical Engineering Posts).

Central Power Engineering Service (Mechanical Engineering Posts).

Central Electrical & Mechanical Engineering Service (Mechanical Engineering Posts).

Assistant Executive Engineer Group ‘A’ in the Geological Survey of India.

Indian Defence Service of Engineers (Mechanical Engineering Posts).

Indian Supply Service, Group 'A' (Mechanical Engineering Posts).

The eligibility criteria for appearing in the exam is a Degree in Engineering or equivalent.or M.Sc Degree or its equivalent with any percentage.

The age limit being 21 to 30 years.
