Re: After Graduation Procedure to be an IPS Officer
To become an IPS officer applicants must possess a degree from an Indian University or an equivalent qualification. Applicants in the final year of a degree course can also appear in the Preliminary Examination taken every year by UPSC. Applicants must have attained the age of 21 years on 1st August of the year of examination and must not have attained 30 years of age on that date. The upper age limit will be relaxed by 3 years for OBC Applicants and 5 years for SC/ST Applicants. The upper age limit is also relaxed in favour of Defense Services Personnel. Applicants must be a citizen of India. Paper Pattern: Applicants have to appear and qualify in the following two examinations: 1. Preliminary Examination/ Civil Services Aptitude Test 2. Mains Examination and Interview 1. Preliminary Examinations: The Preliminary Exam shall consist of two papers of General Studies The study of the papers shall be based on the following main topics: Current Affairs of National and International Events; Indian and World History; Indian and World Geography; Indian Constitution and Governance; Environmental Issues and Sustainable Development; General Science respectively Paper II shall consist of questions on the following main topics: Interpersonal Skills; General Mental Ability; Analytical Reasoning and Logical Reasoning; English Language Comprehension Skills; Data Sufficiency and Data Interpretation; Decision Making and Problem Solving; and Comprehension based questions 2. Mains Examination & Interview: The Mains Exam for the Indian Police Service Applicants shall consist of 9 papers on different subjects as mentioned here below. Paper 1 Objective Type (200 Marks) 2 Hours Paper II Objective Type (200 Marks) 2 Hours Paper III English Language Descriptive Type (200 Marks) 3 Hours Paper IV Essay Descriptive Type (200 Marks) 3 Hours Paper V General Descriptive Type (200 Marks) 3 Hours and Interview Marks: 200 Important Dates: Civil Services (Preliminary) Exam 2015:- Date of commencement of Examination:- 23.08.2015 Duration of the Exam:- 1 DAY Civil Services (Main) Exam 2015:- Date of commencement of Examination:- 18.12.2015 Duration of the Exam:- 5 DAYS |
