Re: After Electrical Engineering MBA Or M.Tech

I understand that you have completed your B.Tech in Electrical Engineering which would have cleared the basics as well as some major insights in to the electrical structuring of devices.

Besides if you pursue an M.Tech you will only gain much more in-depth knowledge about these devices and some more additional inputs on various other aspects of Electrical Engineering.

But pursing an MBA would widen the scope of job opportunities as MBA degree would provide you with the macro picture on:
Making strategic choices for your company
Building a go-to-market strategy
Creating a sustainable competitive advantage etc.

On the margin, a Masters in Engineering probably won't add a tremendous amount to your skill set or your career options. Both the Start-ups and big companies hire Masters and Bachelors engineers at the same entry-level positions. Once a candidate proves himself at the company he will be able to move up with or without a Masters in Engineering.

An MBA, by contrast, widens the job options. If you'd like to move from the technical side to the marketing/strategy/business development sides, the MBA provides credibility. It may also offer credibility when you become a team leader for an interdisciplinary team (i.e. leading not just engineers but also some designers or business folk).

So now its your own choice which you would like to pursue.
