Week 1

Fundamental Science of the Integumentary System:

Objective:

Understand the importance of skin layer anatomy (Gross and Microscopic); depth perception; function of the skin layers; function of important Organelles and Molecules in these layers, energy production, and cell communication

Week 2
Molecular Biology, DNA Chemistry (pertaining to the skin):

Segment 2: Molecular Biology, Physiology, Immunology, Wound Healing
Objective:

Develop Understanding Molecular biology, Physiology, Immunology and Wound Healing, incorporating a nursing care plan

Week 3
Common Skin Disorders:

Acne, Rosacea, Photo-damage, lesions
Objective:

Indentify abnormal skin conditions
Week 4
The Aesthetic Consultation-
How to Perform the Aesthetic Analysis: part 1

Objective:

Identify the realistic expectations post an aesthetic non- surgical treatment. Understand how to perform an aesthetic analysis while implementing an aesthetic plan.

Applications of Cosmeceuticals:
Part 2:
Topical Agents, Drugs, Cosmetic, Retinoids, Cell-Membrane Compatible substances

Objective:

Understand and indentify inflammatory skin conditions, skin pigmentation, genetic markers, UV Radiation and Sun Protection; UVA, UVB, Sunscreens, other Sun Protective Measures

Dynamics of Aging Skin

Chronological, Photo-aging, Free Radicals, Skin Assessment Tools: Skin Type Class, Fitzpatrick, Glogau, & Roberts, Thermal Imaging
Objective:

Develop Nursing care plan for skin types, based on ethnic origin, aesthetic principles, and thermal imaging

Week 6
Nutrition and Wellness:

Objective:

Understanding age management, while incorporating a comprehensive care plan using Nutriceuticals and nutrition

Week 7
Introduction to Lasers, Light and Energy Based Physics:

Understanding the key milestones in development of light theory and laser systems

Objective:

Establish sound understanding of principles, and history of lasers and & other photo therapies, Identify laser safety signs, eyewear, and the importance of lasers protocols
Week 8
Wavelength Therapies

Objective:

Identify wavelength Chromophore therapies and common vascular problems. Understand characteristics and applications of hair removal, and laser applications for Tattoo Removal

Week 9
Photorejuvenation

Segment I: Light-Emitting Diode (LED) and Low Level light (LLT)
Segment II: Photorejuvenation Technology, Radiofrequency and Ultrasound

Objective:

Implement a comprehensive Aesthetic dermatology-nursing plan using (LED), light Emitting Diodes and (LLLT), and Low- level light therapies. Develop and understanding of Fractional Ablative and Non- Ablative Systems

Week 10
Non- Invasive Body Sculpting

Objective:

Understand Radiofrequency, Ultrasound, Cryolipolysis, and low-level laser Liposculpting, used for Non-Invasive Body Contouring, (Mechanical Biostimulation Cavitation, heat induced).

Week 11
Science of Social Vision

Most people are dissatisfied with some aspect of their appearance. However, some individuals are so distressed about the way they look that it interferes with their daily life. Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) is a severe and impairing disorder characterized by a preoccupation with an imagined or slight flaw in appearance. Although BDD has been described in research and literature for more than a century it remains an under recognized disorder.

Objective:

Develop awareness from recent research finding that address the face and body perception. Understand and discuss how the perception of faces and bodies are integrated. How to recognize and address patients with BDD
Week 12
Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is the use of Injectable agents to modify and destroy superficial venous blood vessels that may have functional and cosmetic consequences that prompt a patient to seek treatment. At some point, a large percentage of the population will experience a venous problem during his or her lifetime. The field of phlebology, which is the diagnosis, and treatment of venous disorders, has expanded in the aesthetic and dermatology field of nursing.

Week 13
Botulinum Toxin Type A (BoNTA) for Facial Aesthetics:

Botox® Cosmetic, Dysport, Facial Anatomy, Physiology, Histology, Bacteriology, Cell Proteins, Proprietary Agents
Objective:

Identify facial anatomy of injection sites for neurotoxin administration; design and create aesthetic nursing care plan

Week 14
Dermal Fillers and Volume Enhancers:

Juvederm, Radiesse, Restylane, Perlane, Anatomy, Physiology, Histology, and Filler Categories
Objective:

Understand clinical overview of dermal fillers, history, anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, histology, and filler categories

Week 15
Chemical Peels - Session 1

Basic Science of chemical peels, molecular structure of peels, assessing peel depth, and peeling protocols
Dermal Micro Needling - Session 2

DMA stimulates your own body to produce new collagen. At a microscopic level, proliferated skin cells, such as fibroblasts, migrate to the point of injury and transform into collagen fibers, resulting in increased fiber strength and elasticity. You will learn how this technology facilitates natural repair and growth making the skin healthier and stronger.

Week 16

Development of Policies and Protocols:

Segment I: Implementation of Aesthetic Nursing Legal Aspects, and Ethics, Evidence-Based Practice:

Objective:

Establish and implement strong empirical evidence in current medical & social polices to support political change in Aesthetic and Dermatology nursing protocols within the nursing scope of practice.
Segment II: Culture Compendencies

Objective:

Understand and define various Culture Compendencies in aesthetics, how to address various issues creating knowledge and awareness

Week 17
Business Development and Aesthetic Compliance:

Creating entrepreneurship, business skills, and understanding management internal, external, and defining stakeholders. Physician collaboration and ethical conduct in business, aesthetic compliance formation of legal framework, organizational control, financial issues and liability assumptions.
Objective:
Understanding the fundamentals of a business plan to create strategies for success, how to collaborate with physicians, understanding a business arrangement, and understanding the role of compliance standards within an aesthetic practice
