Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India (ECGC) was came into existence in the year 1957. The head office is located at Mumbai, Maharashtra, India .

ECGC perform following duties –

• Offers a range of credit risk insurance covers to exporters for the loss in export of services and goods.

• Offers Export Credit Insurance for financial institutions and Bankers to enable exporters to get better facilities from them.

• Offers Overseas Investment Insurance to Indian companies from joint ventures abroad in form of loan.

• Offers insurance protection to exporters against payment risks.

• Makes it easy to obtain export finance from banks/financial institutions.

• Provides guidance in export-related activities.

• Makes available information on different countries with its own credit ratings.

• Assists exporters in recovering bad debts.

• Provides information on credit-worthiness of overseas buyers.

Hey as The ECGC Limited (ECGC) was established on 30 July 1957 with an objective to provide insurance cover in respect of risks in export trade.

Work of ECGC:-


It Provides a range of credit risk insurance covers to exporters against loss in export of goods and services

It Offers Export Credit Insurance covers to banks and financial institutions to enable exporters to obtain better facilities from them

It Provides Overseas Investment Insurance to Indian companies investing in joint ventures abroad in the form of equity or loan


ECGC help exporters in the following ways :-

It Provides guidance in export-related activities

It Makes available information on different countries with it's own credit ratings
