H I would like to know the project undertaken by the Aakash school for education for Indian Institute of Technology related to Aakash Tablet?

Aakash School of Education’s aim is to enhance the quality of school education in India especially in schools located at remote, rural areas by empowering teachers as well as students using Aakash Tablet as one of the most useful teaching and learning device. The school also aims to test the impact of Aakash tablet in enhancement of conventional learning and pedagogical methodologies.

Aakash School Education Project Details:

The projects given below are related to school education for aakash tablet
1. Group and Peer based student evaluation system for school education.
o Objective: Student assessment systems used in school comprises of only teacher as a evaluator. Proposed Group as well as Peer based student evaluation system encourages students to evaluate among each other. Motivation for proposed project is as follows:
o 1. Students like to workout in group.
o 2. Knowledge sharing through discussion is one of best way of learning.

o Description: Students can form a group, as per their choices for diverse subjects. Teacher’s role on the whole system will be as a monitor. Teacher can map group activity/sessions and provide time limit. At planned instance respective groups will participate in the session. For a moment, consider only 2 groups are participating say, Group1 and Group2. Group1 will pose question (related to specific subject) to Group2. Additionally, Group1 will put correct answer, time limit and operating mode. There can be 2 operating modes- 1. Single answer by group 2. Individual answers by every team member. After expiry of time limit, correct answer will be visible to Group2, and data will be recorded for both groups. Now, Question posing turn goes to Group2, and same cycle continues, till time limit put by teacher. Finally, teacher can obtain a report of session, which will display groups performance as well as individual students performance in the group.

2. Design and build a portal for contributing teaching content for school education
o Objective: 1. To generate a CMS based portal for contributing learning material for schools. 2. categorize content based on subjects/topics/ lessons 3. Contributors can register and choose topics for contributing content. 4. Registered users can login and upload content. 5. Reviewers may review/rate content (approve or return with comments). 6. Administrator can publish reviewed content
o Description: The Aakash School project is an endeavor to utilize Aakash as a delivery means for teaching as well as learning. For this purpose, teaching content requests to be generated which is in the open source (e.g. gpl or creative commons). This portal shall be a stage where content creators shall converge, upload content based on standards specified and enforced by the portal. Reviwers can review this content before it is published at this portal. Content users must use this portal to download content on Aakash as well as use it by employing built in rendering software such as epub reader, browser or pdf readers.
