Distance Learning In Kenya
Distance learning programme in Kenya enhances equitable access to higher education. KISWCD Kenya provides several programmes by the Distance Learning mode. The distance learning courses were introduced to offer for students who are unable to attend lectures at KISWCD owing to business, domestic or distance considerations. The purpose of Distance Learning courses is to equip students with skills and knowledge in community development approaches, strategies and introduce them to Participatory Development Methodologies so as to enable them work with the communities not as leaders but as facilitators of development. The main objective is to offer an opportunity to those who by virtue of the work they do, cannot afford to attend full time, evening or Saturday classes in Nairobi. This is a program delivery methodology to students who have preferred for guided self-study to achieve their academic goals without traditional class attendance.
