Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeobotany Lucknow

Introduction
The Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeobotany Lucknow marks the name of its reverend instituting father, Professor Birbal Sahni, one of the great sons of encouraged the country. The Governing Body of the Society founded an ‘Institute of Palaeobotany’ and constituted Professor Sahni as its first Director in an honorary capacity. Pending the acquisition of permanent place the work of the Institute was carried out in the Department of Botany, Lucknow University, and Lucknow in September 1948.
