Assam Agricultural University (AAU) has a number of campuses with its main office situated at Borbheta at a distance of around 5 km from both railway station bus andstation and 2 km from airport of the Jorhat. The city can be reached easily from Guwahati, the capital of Assam, The legal power of the University extends to the entire State of Assam with consider to education, research and extension education in the field of agriculture and allied sciences. This was established in 1969 under the Assam Agricultural University Act 1968 January 2, 1969.
