The Aligarh Muslim University is 1st of the most previous leading Central Universities of India with a single and rich acculturation of its individual. It owes its survival to the unselfish and tireless attempts of the keen visionary Sir Syed Ahmad Khan. Deeply moved by the socio-economic and learning plight of his community behind the First War of sovereignty of 1857, he was quick to make that the panacea for these ills lay in infusing the spirit of free research and modernism in the community. His photograph to the British Universities, particularly those at Oxford and Cambridge, and their public campus, invigorated him with a new vision of a proportionate practice of culture, combining the best elements in the cultures of the East with the arts and sciences of the West. In 1875 he launched a High School at Aligarh, which, within three years, was elicited to a College known as Mohammadan Anglo Oriental College which metamorphosed into Aligarh Muslim University in 1920 through an Act of Parliament.
